1.

When was the last time you just let yourself do nothing?
Take whatever amount of time you have available today to rest.
Be it a few minutes or a few hours.
Rest until you feel ready to play.

2.

Do you remember what you loved to play when you were a child?
What would it feel like to play that way again?
Make a playful gesture in that direction today.

3.

Grab a pencil and paper.
Or a stick and a patch of earth / sand.
Begin by drawing a shape – any old shape.
Now, change it into something else.
What will your shape become?

4.

Try experiencing your space from a different angle today.
… hang out under the desk or table / sit in the hallway or part-way up the stairs / lie down on the floor / hang upside down off the couch / move your chair to the other side of the room …
How do things feel from this perspective?

5.

Gather together a selection of things from around your space.
Take some time to explore arranging / moving / combining / manipulating these parts together in a way that feels appealing to you.

6.

Choose a word. The first that comes to mind will do.
Now, say the word out loud, repeating it over and over, until it loses its usual meaning and becomes sound again.
What happens if you experiment with pitch / volume / tempo?

7.

As you go about your day today try to be aware of any moments of boredom.
Now, get curious.
Instead of turning to the usual distractions,
can you be with the boredom for a moment longer?

Notice how it feels in your body.
Is there anything that this boredom is inviting you towards?
